We have a very comprehensive store of quality equipment and clothing for rent. When renting equipment without a guide or instructor, good self-rescue and pair rescue skills plus basic sea kayak handling skills are required. Very often it is worth it to use our Self-guided sea kayaking package which includes equipment and transportation instead of renting separate items below.

Note:

1. For all guided expeditions and instructed classes where nothing else is mentioned, all sea kayaking equipment is provided included in the price.

2. Aavameri requires kayak rescue, handling and navigation skills from all persons we rent out kayaks to.  If you are not sure if you have the required safety skills, we urge you to book a 3-4 hour Basic Sea Kayak Safety and Boat Handling class / rehersal to start your trip.

We use a range of lightweight and high quality sea kayak paddles depending on the activity, primarily Z&J (SK-1 & SK-2), Z&J SK-T touring carbon 100% and Werner (Shuna, Calliste Cyprus, Corrywrecken). You can chose between straight and ergo shafts.

We deliver kayaks to all parts of the Finnish Archipelago Sea, and also transport kayakers with pickup-places being for instance the Turku center hotels, Turku railway and bus station, Turku and Helsinki airport. For our Self-guided kayaking tours and Guided multi-day kayaking tours, transportation from Turku center to the starting point for the expedition and back afterwards is included in the price. Please note that the below prices are only offered in combination with our other services as and normally depend on the group consisting of at least three persons.

1. BOOKING 

Your registration is booked, when we receive payment for the registration. For activities open for the public, other earlier and later registrations paid earlier will take priority over unpaid registrations. 

2. RESPONSABILITIES AND INSURANCES

The participant must always check with Aavameri, that possible health issues, skill restrictions or physical conditions does not interfere with participating in the activity. This way Aavameri is also able to alter the activity if possible, to ensure a nice and safe quality experience for everyone. The Finnish legislation does not allow a company to hold an insurance towards accidents or injuries to the participants or the participants' belongings. Please ensure that you hold a travel insurance or alike that covers activities like kayaking.  

3. RENTAL ADDITIONS

Kayaking equipment is rented out only to persons that have the required technical and safety skills to paddle in an dynamic environment. These skills include kayak rescues, understanding of weather and cold water, kayak handling techniques and basic navigation skills. If you are unsure about your skills, please ask before renting - we are happy to offer you a basic kayak safety course before letting you out on your own. The customer is responsible for any damages to the equipment during the rental periord, and will be charged for repairs and replacements should such be needed. The equipment should be cleaned and emptied before returned. 

4. CANCELLATIONS MADE BY CLIENT 

A cancellation made by the participant gives the right to the following returns from the part of the payment, which has not caused Aavameri irrevocable fees: 

1 Maximum one day courses and activities arranged in Finland 

• more than 6 days before the start of the activity: full return
• more than 3 days but maximum 6 days before the start of the activity: 50% return
• 3 days or less before the start of the activity: no return 

2 Multiday courses and activities arranged in Finland 

• more than 30 days before the start of the activity: full return
• more than 15 days but maximum 30 days before the start of the activity: 80% return
• more than 7 days before the start of the activity: 35% return
• less than 7 days before the start of the activity: no return 

3 Courses and activities arranged outside Finland

• more than 30 days before the start of the activity: full return
• more than 15 days but maximum 30 days before the start of the activity: 50% return
• 15 days or less before the activity: no return

Because of the administrative work in connection with bookings, an administrative fee of 25€ is not returnable upon cancellation. If the participant choses to leave the activity earlier than planned, this does not entitle to a return.  

5. CANCELLATIONS MADE BY AAVAMERI 

In very rare situations, Aavameri might have to cancel an activity. We warmly recommend our customers to have a travel insurance, which compensates for changed travel plans in such cases.

1. In situations like dangerous weathers, injuries to the guide or other force majeure situations, Aavameri does the utmost to alter the activity in a way making it possible to still do the activity on another place, with another guide or alike. However, in extreme and very rare cases, Aavameri could be obliged to cancel an event with short warning. In this case, Aavameri offers another similar activity to the customer without a new charge, or if this does not work for the customer, makes a full money return for the activity.
2. In situations where Aavameri does not get enough customers for a multiday expedition in Finland, Aavameri has the right to cancel the expedition with prior information about this sent to the customer one week before the expedition. A full money return regarding Aavameri's fees for the expedition or course is made in such cases. In situations where Aavameri does not get enough customers for a multiday expedition in other countries than Finland, Aavameri has the right to cancel the expedition with prior information about this sent to the customer one month before the expedition. 3. Activity not in line with client's abilities: In the unfortunate event that Aavameri's guide determine that a client does not meet the physical requirements or the skill level requirements of an activity on site and therefore is at risk of serious injury and / or will not make it possible for the rest of the group to go on with the activity as planned, Aavameri needs to cancel part of or the whole participation in the activity for the client. A refund for the remaining part of the activity is made only if the participant has correctly informed Aavameri about restrictions in physical or skill abilities prior to the activity.

PRIVACY POLICY and PRIVACY PROTECTION ACT

The registrar Aavameri FI17593172, Ankkurikatu 9, Turku Finland stores data connected with customer relations as the Aavameri Customer Relations Database.  Responsible registrar handler is Benjamin Donner, benjamin (ät) aavameri.fi. The Our Privacy Policy describes how we handle the information you provide to us when you use our services. You understand that through your use of Aavameri's services, you consent to the collection and use (as set forth in the Privacy Policy) of this information in the ways needed for Aavameri to arrange qualitative services and for possible newsletters if you opt in for such.

The purpose and use of the data:

a. Needed data is collected and stored for arrangements of the activity. This data includes the customers name, email address and any further details needed for the activity which might include, but does not always include all of, the followings: activity the customer has registered to, postal address, phone number, age, weight, height and health issues. These details, except name and email address if conditions in b) below apply, are destroyed direcly after the activity in question. 

b. Data for sending out newsletters about similar activities to the customer if the customer choses to opt in for this. This data only includes name and email address. The customer can chose to unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time by using the link in the newsletter, in which case the information is destroyed automatically.

c. Data from customers in Aavameri's web shop is stored to make the order and guarantee process possible as follows: Name and email address of customers and physical products bought or enquired about. Enuiries are destroyed one month after having been done. The name and email address of the customer for completed buys is stored along with product details for guarantee purposes, these details will be destroyed upon request. 

Aavameri collects and stores needed information on a Finnish server with SSL encrypted and password protected connection. No information is forwarded to third party or outside EU and EU's economical region, and only the guide for the activity and the person handling bookings have access to the data. For technical reasons, the server administrator has access to raw data stored on the server, but is prohibited from use and distribution of private data in all ways. 

Everyone customer has the right to check what data is stored about him- or herself. Enquiries about stored data, corrections to the data or removal of data should be sent to dataprotection (ät) aavameri.fi  . If a customer data is in the customers view in any ways misused, we strongly hope for you to contact us. It is also possible to contact the surveilling authority, the Finnish Data Protection Office.

This Privacy Policy and Privacy Protection Act has been updated May 5th, 2018, to cover the new EU GDPR data protection changes from May 25th, 2018.

Does not need previous kayaking experience. Your fitness level should be such that you have no problem with walking three kilometers or swimming 400 meters in a slow pace. We will customize the activity for your speed and ability.

Previous kayaking experience is not needed, but helps you to get going with the activity. Your fitness level should be such, that walking in a brisk pace for three kilometers or swimming for 1 kilometer in a slow pace is OK for you.

Requires previous kayaking experience, and having a basic course in sea kayaking behind you helps you enjoy the activity more. A good fitness level is a must.

For kayakers with technical traing and a good fitness level. The activity includes dynamic kayaking, often in conditions with more than 9 m/s wind and waves under 1 m heigh. Profiency in deep water rescues needed.

For sea kayakers with proficient self-rescue and pair rescue tecniques in deep water and dynamic conditions. You need previous experience in multi-day sea kayak trips and kayak handling skills for over 1 meter high waves and 12 m/s wind. Most activities at this level are aimed towars kayaking instructors.

A maze of islands as far as the eye can see. Silence, wilderness, sheltered mirrored waters. Sculptured by the latest ice age into 40.000 islands and skerries, the Finnish Archipelago Sea is one of the world's big wonders. Finland's Everymans' Rights offers uncountable possibilities to find your own island to camp on. This guided tour takes you together with a small group of two to seven persons to the most stunning parts of the area, offering an amazing journey into the Finnish archipelago nature and culture.

This adventureous three day sea kayaking expedition gives a fantastic time together exploring the wild and beautiful Finnish Archipelago National Park together with our nice and professional sea kayak guide. We customize the days according with the group and the weather. Experience island hopping exploring the wild islands, dive into the archipelago culture visiting island villages, swim in the sea and find amazing sites to setup camp on. Both families with children, beginners wanting to take it slow and easy and more experienced kayakers loved this expedition each time.

We will paddle in the unique southwest archipelago of Finland, the most extensive and in our opinion the most unique archipelago in the world. A multi-day expedition will offer a close aquintance with the nature and culture of the Finnish archipelago, and the time on the wild islands, sleeping in tents and cooking our own food outdoors, is an unforgettable experience.

Itinerary and things to note

Itinerary

DAY 1

We pick you up from Turku after 9am, and take you to a suitable launching beach for the expedition. We vary places according to the weather and the group, and the driving time from Turku is usually a little over an hour. 

Our guide will, if you want it, start the first day by giving you the fundaments of sea kayaking in order to ensure that you get enjoyable days. The tour will be adjusted to your experience and expectations. We paddle out into the Archipelago National Park, stopping at special places for breaks, taking a swim if we feel like it and snack and food breaks when suitable. Your guide is also your chef during the tour if you do not chose otherwise, and will prepare fresh, local dishes out in the wild.

In the afternoon, we land on an island suitable for camping, and build our camp together with the guide. There is time to explore the island and enjoy good food and company.

DAY 2

We pack our kayaks after we have enjoyed the breakfast prepared by the guide, and continue the expedition. If the weather allow for it, we have the possibility to visit an outer archipelago island village in order to experience what life in the archipelago is like, but also experience the wild national park nature. We paddle, explore the islands, swim and relax all according to your wishes. Your sea kayaking guide will plan the route to give you the possibility to experience the most beautiful and fascinating parts of the area.

Your guide prepares lunch during a break during the day, and a tasty dinner once we have arrived to the day's camping island in the afternoon. We again set camp, and enjoy the evening. 

DAY 3

After breakfast we get on the water again. We explore the are in our kayaks, take a lunch break, and return to the place where we started kayaking day 1 in time to get to Turku around 5pm together with the guide.  

What to bring along

Clothes according to the weather, snacks, water, spare clothes for the case that you would get wet, sunglasses. We supply you with outdoor equipment like tent, sleeping mattress, sleeping bag, outdoor kitchen and more if you do not have your own.
